:) In that way it's really easy to keep you fit!You go down 2 floors and you're in the gym, no more excuses or delaying 'cause the gym is too far :)
I've spent the weekend as well in Zürich enjoying the city and the beginning of the European cup 2008 (too bad they loose their first match).
I've finally experimented the othe side of couchsurfing with my first real surf! :)
It has been amazing a very sweet girl host me in her student house and I've enjoyed the Friday and Saturday birthday parties! :) (No no the Swiss guy just have one party for their birthday it's just that there where 2 different birthday!)
After this magic weekend I've been in Rome for the Craig Larman course for the Scrum Master Certificate (yes now I'm officially certificate)!
I think I'll dedicate a special post for this 'cause it was really brilliant!
Now I'm full of books to read and my todo list increased again (It's amazing how I manage to never let it going down!)
Luckily after running up and down I managed to relax and breath some sea air in Ortona (my parent's town), impressive how you can relax in the countryside!
So last month was a big month Amsterdam - Zurigo - Amsterdam - Roma - Ortona - Amsterdam! :)

Cosi' tante cose in cosi' poco tempo...
:) Cosi' e' davvero facile restare in forma!

Easter Holiday (Preface)

If I'll ever write about the whole holiday it'll take a lot of space and a lot of time (this is the main issue actually). So probably I'll never do it. But at least I want to tell everybody we've got a wonderful time in Sicily and in Roma in those days!
Thanks to the friends from Swiss, Milan, Ortona, North Carolina (well actually he lives in Rome... :p) and of course Roma that join us in this marvelous adventure, thanks to the wonderful family that host us in Messina and make all of us feeling home, thanks to Stefania and Gabriele for planning and managing at their best all the unexpected event that catch you when you move around 10 people!
And then a particular thanks to all my friends in Roma that with their warm greetings make my leaving from Rome so hard!.. Especially one :)

I've joined the CouchSurfing community few weeks ago.
And finally I've hosted my first couch surfer in my tiny room (so now it's official this room can handle one guest!).
The guy I've hosted is French he's moving in Amsterdam and he's amazing! He was in India and lived in Israel then he worked 3 months in Norway (during the winter!!!), so I can understand that he want to move from there. He traveled almost every where in the world!
Anyway now It's going to be my neighbor 'cause after a couple of days of searching he couldn't find a good room so I suggested him to ask to the same agency that manages my place.
He plays the guitar, too so I think we're going to have some noisy night in my block :)
Than on Friday I went to a couchserfing meeting in a very nice pub in the center and it was amazing! People literally from every side of the globe while I was there I've met 2 guys without an accommodation for the weekend (one for Saturday and another for Sunday night) so I found two guest in one evening! :)
Then I was invited to participate to 2 special dinner one on Sunday and another on Wednesday! It was definitely a great night!
My Saturday guest is an American guy with Indian origin (but his parents were born in Africa!) we spent the evening in a pub with some friends! Another nice evening.
So guys what are you waiting for? The days are finally long enough (and it will be always better!) the temperature has raised, it's not warmth but at least it's not too cold either. And on Friday I can introduce you some nice people at the couch surfing meeting :)

Ps: After one month of silence two posts! I think that now I need to rest for one month before to post again!

Insomma raga' che state aspettando?

How to ski in Netherlands

It's a while I don't post any news on my blog, on the weeks immediately after my last post 'cause nothing really interesting ever happened outside the every day routine (with the exception of my little experiments with the dutch language, I need to work a lot on it!) and in the last couple of week because too many thing are happening in the same time!
First of all our vp (vice president) decided that the Christmas party was too wide and he wanted to do something special only for our department.
So he decided to go to ski all together in a place close to Amsterdam! If you cannot see the paradox of this I'll explain to you, the netherlands as you can guess from the name it's almost entirely under the sea level, that means that it's definitely flat! A wide border less plain whipped by the wind.
The duch see the mountain like a myth and to ski on a real mountain (like Alps) he's a dream!
So how it's possible to ski close to Amsterdam? Well the only possibility is an artificial piste indoor!
It has been great! We arrived in this huge building with a restaurant with big windows against this piste (2/300) meters more about with 2 ski lifts and a little slope for the novice on one side.
The most impressive thing was seeing our vice president jump down the slope (obviously we could see he was an expert) while half of the dutch were rolling in the snow on the children piste. :)
I throw myself down the slope with my unmistakable style, more about like a berserk elephant. But after a wile I started to remember how to ski so I've started to bend instead of going straight down like an avalanche!
The whole thing was great also 'cause after the ski we got a nice dinner!
And this was just the beginning...

E allora com'e' possibile be' semplice pista artificiale indoor (ovvero dentro un edificio!).

Friends from Rome. First!

And the winner are... Bianca ed Elisa!!! Yeah!!! The first friends from Rome to came in Amsterdam!
It was a great weekend, well they arrived Saturday evening so it wasn't a real weekend but it was definitively nice!!
On Saturday we ate together in a typical Suriname restaurant (Yes typical, it's not a typo or an error here in Amsterdam all the kitchen in the world are represented and are Amsterdam typical! They have some typical original Holland dishes especially winter dishes and a lot of sweets but foreign food is part of the culture as well and you hardly find an exclusively Holland traditional restaurant. I still have to find it!) and we spent the rest of the evening in a nice cafe in the center (close to the red light district).
On Sunday they rent the bikes (I've got mine as you know from one of the previous post) so we spent the whole days cycling around the cities, crossing canals, staring at the pending houses, the Buddhist temple, some of the different churches, the mosque with an hairdresser shop inside! and so many other thing that it'd take too much to enumerate.
We went also to Ann Frank house (really smart this Dutch, 7.5 Eur to see empties rooms and a couple of video :p ) I'll read the book one day and maybe I'll understand why peoples keep going there... :)
We lunch with another typical Dutch food chips (or fries as you prefer)! Elisa was the only one who managed to finish them 'cause they were definitely too much! I also tried to convince them to test the famous Haring, raw herring, but I didn't succeed so I ate alone this delicacy.
It was a marvelous Sunday and a great Monday evening. They left on Tuesday morning so on Monday evening we had the dinner together and then we went to play pool inside a cafe (we were all too tired to walk again, and they give back the bikes).

Come back soon!! (I know you really liked Amsterdam so I'm sure I'll found you hanging up in the city pretty soon!)

E le vincitrici sono... Bianca ed Elisa!!! Yeah!!!

Here I'm again, I was a bit busy and a lot shocked turning back to Amsterdam after the fantastic experience in Geneva! I wanted to find the time to write something about this last meeting, but more I waited less I could find to write, then I realized. It's impossible to explain some experience, It's meaningless if I tell you what we have done, how we sang on Geneva buses crowded with young guy from all Europe and beyond, how we manage to sing "Brother Roger, Frere Jacques, Fra Martino" in so many different languages that I cannot recall all... you should have lived your own to understand. How Geneva welcome us how much opening and (yeah I know that it's an inflated word but that's it) love. It was a fantastic new year eve and fantastic days with my old and new friends.
Thanks to all guy it was fantastic.
And if any of you want really to spent a fantastic 2009 new year eve you've to go to Brussels, you wont regret it I'm sure!

Ps.
If you're technologically guy ad you have an rss feed you can follow the new post updating through this link http://pathseeking.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full

Buon Natale/Feliz Navidad/Merry Christmas

Ciao Ragazzi,

-----------------------------------------------------

14 December 2007

On Friday my new company organized a Christmas Party, they rent a huge place.
I arrived by bike with Rigas just in time for the illusionist show, it was the classical show with girls in the boxes disappearing, splitting, miraculously managing to be unharmed after a dozen of swords where put inside the boxes they where in... but very professional with sync music and fire and lights...
After a video of our American top executive the dj started the music and waitress took trays with the food around.
The main room was huge with a stage and 2 big bars (with few people inside serving beer and preparing cocktails) then upstairs there was another room with 2 DJ playing in the same time, how it was possible? well you've to wear headphones so you could decide which of them to listen!!! So it was a nice quite room with people dancing in the silent (very funny)
Well I only know my colleagues and some of the Italian working in upc but we were hundreds of people! but as you can see from the picture we had a lot of fun!!!

In the picture from left to right: Laura, Me, Rosaria, Luca, Rigas, Rut

Home (or just something that resemble) sweet home

10 Dicembre 2007

------------------------------------
10 December 2007

At last I've found a place. It's suite perfectly my need, something cheap not too far from the center with no sharing problem. So it's just a room with a little kitchen (very little).
It's inside an house with 3 other people but we should not have most of the common sharing problem 'cause each of us got a very very small bathroom and his little kitchen.
So I'm sorry but my guest will have to leave in a very claustrophobic environment :p (maybe I can find some cheap accommodation if you're going to be more than 2).
I'm going to move in the new place on Saturday so next week I'll be able to tell you more about.

30 Dicembre 2007

--------------------------------

30 December 2007

I've settled in Rigas place at the moment. Rigas is a greek guy working at UPC so basically it's a collegue of mine! :) He was so kind to host me for these firsts days 'till I found a better accomodation. So I'm not under a bridge! :) He rented a wonderful studio in the Pijp (something like San Lorenzo in Rome but better :p).

One of the first thing you absolutely need in Holland is the bike!!! I've found a second hand 100% Dutch bike (It hasn't have the brakes! To stop you've to pedal back), It's fantastic!I feel a real Dutch now :p Here in Amsterdam there are an average of 3 bikes for people but still there are a lot of bike thiefs so I've to take a big and heavy chain to secure my bike. Then I've taken a noisy bell (I know I'm still a little child, but I like to much ring it also if there's no need!)

First Day

29 Dicembre 2007

--------------------------------------------------

29 December 2007

In the morning I've had a huge breakfast with eggs and weird kind of ham, I ate everything without asking myself too much, then I've connected to internet the whole morning. I've looked in all kind of web sites for an accommodation and I sent a dozen of email. I bought a recharge for my holland mobile sim (last time I was in Amsterdam I bought a sim card but I wasn't aware that it was out of charge, also 'cause I still had to lear how to check the credit :p), I've asked some information to the bank to understand what kind of bank account I could apply.
Find and accommodation in Amsterdam it's a nightmare (but I've to say that in the end it's not so different from rome) when I've finished the web site into which look in I've just hanged around in the outskirts to have an idea of the places I was after to. In the meantime I've asked to some bike shopkeepers the cost for something chip, also second hand... well I've discovered that a good second hand bicycle can cost also 750 Eur!!! (I didn't ask but maybe there were diamonds in the frame...) they have also the foldable bike at 100 Eur but that are not good for the long distances, they've got little wheels... they're pretty much like the Smart in Rome. After an unsuccessful walking (well I've got an idea about the city, the bike's prices and other little things) I've again get into an internet cafe and I've taken an appointment with the tax office to get the fiscal number (social fiscal number aka SoFi number).
You call a number an they put you in a list, then they call you and they give you an appointment, so you go to the tax office and in 10 minutes you've got your nice number (no queue and whole waist day!!).

Just Landed

28 Dicembre 2007

-----------

28 December 2007

Gabriele (my brother) bring me to the airport, as always I was worried (especially after what happened in Madrid, do you remember Fa'?) for the unexpected event that can make me miss the plane. But everything goes smooth as oil the airplane was basically empty so all the check in takes just a few minutes.
Landed in Rotterdam I caught the bus to the train station and there after some problem with the ticket machine, they didn't accept banknote only coins or mastercard credit card... how could I possible have 12 euro in coins I had visa card!! Luckily the ticket office at 23 was still open!
So train to Amsterdam and the straight to the hotel, I choose one where I was before so I even know with trams to catch!
At 12:30 I was under the covers trying to sleep, thinking about all the things to do the day after and... no I still haven't the shook (according to Andrea I should have realized what I was doing at the airport just landed in Holland... but maybe I've had too many things in my mind so I had no time to realize anything)
